Provincial Cadet Band and Drill Competition
Held at Canadian Forces Base Borden
Saturday May 28, 2016
Here they are, the top military cadet band in the Province of Ontario!!
This is now the third year in a row that our squadron band has been named the
top military cadet band in the Province of Ontario.
Not only did the band achieve top honours in the band competition but the Squadron’s “Drill with Arms Team”
placed second in their competition.
Here they are being presented with their individual medals.
The presentations did not end with these awards as the Drum Major, Warrant Officer Andrew Lloyd and the Drill Team Commander, Warrant Officer Christopher Abraham were both awarded trophies as the
Top Drum Major and the Top Drill Team Commander in the competition.
This was an emotional and rewarding day for all members of the squadron who were there to witness the Squadron’s impressive performance. We must remember that all of this would not have happened without the dedication and enthusiasm of the cadets who put in many hours of practice and preparation for this competition. A great deal of credit must also go to numerous members of the Squadron’s staff of civilian volunteers and squadron officers who spent many hours of their time and effort to train and encourage the cadets who went on to achieve these impressive results. The achievements of the cadets brought out the pride, emotions and sometimes the tears that were obvious in those from the squadron who were there to witness the competition.
