Recruit Training Program
The first step in becoming an air cadet in 151 Squadron is the completion of the units recruit training program. This course is approximately 7 weeks in duration and it is designed to welcome the recruit into the Squadron and provide the new cadet with an introduction to the customs and formalities of the cadet organization. The new recruit learns about military time, basic drill, rank structure, Squadron history, how to wear a uniform and an introduction to all of the many activities that go on in the Squadron.
Once the recruits paperwork has been completed the recruit is free to join any of the regular cadet programs such as the drill team, the band and they may attend Friday evening sports parades.
All new recruits on the course are expected to wear dark pants and a black tie. Parade times are from 7:00 PM to 9.00 PM on Monday evenings at Rotary Hall 254 Centre Street South, Oshawa or Village Union Public School, 155 Gibb Street, Oshawa. To help introduce new recruits and their parents to the cadet program a special information night is held prior to the start of the course.
Once a recruit has completed the course they are welcomed into the cadet program and the Squadron at a special graduation parade. This parade is held before the whole squadron at the Squadron’s training centre which is at Village Union Public School on Simcoe Street South in Oshawa. This is right across the road from Rotary Hall.
If individuals have questions or concerns they are encouraged to email the Squadron at recruiting@chadburn.org or call 905 576 1511
